As most of you know, my husband, Ines, was born and raised in Colima, Mexico. Colima is the second to smallest state in the country and it's a coastal state -- on the Pacific ocean side. Anyway, when we first met he spoke English with a pretty heavy accent, and he told me this story about his favorite "dog." It was one of those early in the relationship pillow talk stories -- it went something like this : I found a "dog" on the street in town and brought it home. The "dog" took to me very quickly and followed me around wherever I went. It even had to be stopped from following me to school. The "dog" ate food out of my hand and it slept in the house, sometimes under the tree in the courtyard. After weeks of living with this "dog", having it follow me around wherever I went, and getting rather attached to it, the "dog" flew away.

Imagine my shock once my husband arrived at this part of the story. I asked him, What?  Your dog flew away?"

He answered, "Dog, what are talking about dog. I didn't say "dog;" I said, "duck!"
